Galaxy U13 unluck to lose to Amie Joe

Nerves got the better of the Galaxy U13’s as the succumbed to a 3-1 loss to their Amie Joe counterparts in a season opener at the Giant Stadium in Soshanguve.

The boys should have gone to halftime with atleast half a dozen goals but only converted one going to the break on the lead.

“The boys must have thought the game was won but it’s never over till the fat lady sings. Overall we played better than our opponents and should have been leading 4 to zero by half time had we taken our chances. Better luck in the next game” said coach ThizwihangwiDoc Strezz Nemanashe

The team’s goal came from Casuel “Hima” Msiza who has opened his account and hopefully he will add more to that.

Galaxy U19s rout Mabopane Juve

Sporting Galaxy U19’s made their league debut in fine style, sending a strong message to all the teams by giving Mabopane Juventas a 6-1 hiding.
Thendo “Tuks” Tsomele had a blinder banging four goals while Thabo, popularly known as Scara and Sibusiso also known as "Master" got a goal apiece to complete the rout.

The boys showed character and determination from the first to the last whistle and they ran riot over Juventas showing the spirit of ruthlessness that Galaxy instilled in them.

“It was a fair game to watch, it was great to see our boy winning with a high score margin in their first game and commitment was there. Even though I believe we could have scored more than we did, but am happy for  them they deserved  it.”

“They were the better team on the day and I hope that win has given them motivation that it doesn't matter how long those teams have been in the league because at the end of the day you will be judged according to the way you played, am looking more at success than win,” coach Nkateko ‘Drogba’Moyana said after the win.

This being the league opener the boys should build on it as they go all out for our target, the league title.

The Chairman Says...

Greetings to all Galaxy faithfuls, this past weekend saw us playing away with our junior divisions on Saturday. We visited Happy Swallows at Block GG where we played against their Under 13, 17 and 19.

U13 we lost the match by four goals to one, whilst at U17 we beat them by four goals to nil. Under 19 lost by three goals to nil. Under 17 also did well to come back from behind to beat Blackpool by four goals to three after trailing two nil at Block WW this Monday.

A below par performance by our Under 13 as they played like they had seen a ghost.  Some of the players will need to grow a heart of steel if they are to challenge for honours in the league. It was therefore not lack of skill but lack of courage that saw them lose by that margin.

Our Under 17 played the best football on the day as they converted the chances they had even though they were playing against very rough opponents (Happy Swallows). In their second match they did well to come back from behind and win but conceded very soft goals.

With our Under 19 one is still asking themselves questions as to how we lost to Happy Swallows as we dominated the game in terms of scoring chances and possession. Maybe it was an issue of tactical discipline when it came to defending as we kept on chasing our poles when under attack. But this all can be corrected moving forward.

I am glad to say our senior team did well on Sunday in their fourth league game against Tshepo Stars at Giant stadium. They beat them by 5 goals to 3 as they showed their fighting spirit coming back from a 3-1 deficit. Congratulations to David Lekota for scoring the team’s first official hatrick. So we can say now we have won two games out of four with a game in hand.

Last but not least, condolences to our senior team Head Coach Masala Mugaga on losing his nephew Karabo. We buried him this past Tuesday and may his soul rest in peace.

Galaxy too good for Tshepo Stars

The Sporting Galaxy seniors recorded their second league win beat Tshepo Stars 5-3 in a tightly contested game at Giant Stadium on Sunday.

The boys showed character as they held their nerve to hold on to the lead which sees them move to six points from four matches.

A hatrick from David Lekota as well as a goal each from Nkube ‘Scara’ Setshedi and Freedom was enough to seal a memorable win in the absence of coach Masala Mugaga.

Bapela was in charge of the team following Mugaga’s absence as he had to attend a family bereavement.

“It’s a good win indeed, we just need to work on our defence to avoid conceding goals. Above all the team has done well on its debut season with 50 percent record and hopefully the boys will become more consistent,” said the Club CEO Clyde Tlou

The boys will go to their next game with a major boost as they welcome back coach Masala on the bench on Sunday.

Galaxy lose to Mike One Stars

The Sporting Galaxy seniors were unlucky to lose their second defeat of the season this time in the hands of Mike One Stars.

Despite controlling the game all round the boys fell to a 2-1 defeat away from home. Galaxy scored first through Stanley Mphakawe early in the first half but the host equalized and went on to win through freekicks.
Head coach Masala Mugaga believes they boys did well and there were just unlucky to concede late and lose the game.

“I think the game was fine because we managed to score first,” he said.

“The second half was no different story, we dominated them and they got two setpieces which they scored. Overrally am happy that they never broke through our defense and our keeper never got to make any saves throughout, something which maybe led to him conceding” Mugaga said.

The boys will look to redeem themselves in their next game at home.
