This is the first ever chairman’s column of
Sporting Galaxy Football Club, and I would like to start with warm greetings to
all. As we start the new season with the Soshanguve and District Football
Association(SODIFA), we plan to establish ourselves as a force to be reckoned
with from the senior team down to the juniors.
Our mission is to develop the
best football players and human beings in Soshanguve through proper nurturing
of talent from a young age.
Being based in a disadvanted area like
Soshanguve Block L means we have to make do with limited resources and
infrastructure. But with our commitment, dedication, hard work and discipline
we should be able to produce future professionals and leaders of our community
through football. The team will serve as an inspiration to the community and
its young children who could have been lost to drug and alcohol abuse amongst
other ill characters of the society.
So far we have played two games in the
league with our senior team. We lost our first game by four goals against two
to Amie Joe whilest we beat Makaunyane Santos by two goals to nil in our second
game. For a new team this is not a bad start as we are trying to find our
footing in the new environment.
The second game I attended as I wanted to see
how we are doing when it comes to actual play. We could have won by several
goals if our finishing matched our in-field play, but nonetheless our overall
play was good though there is still much room for improvement.
This weekend we play at Kgotlelelang in
Block TV against Mike One Stars on Sunday at 11h00. As the chairman I am
expecting a better performance than our previous one as Mike One are seasoned
campaigners in this league. Three points of every match are crucial and I wish
the boys all the best as they head on to that match. Our junior divisions will
also play friendlies as we await the finalisation of paper work with the
association.
